This song isn't from my years in Hungary but I started working on it at the same time as the Play for You 2022 tunes so it became part of the project and deserves a spot on the EP.
Right around the time I started mixing these songs at home, Kinard's wife Tamara Wellons was getting ready to do a show called "Family Reunion". When Kinard mentioned this to me, the idea for a laid back jam spontaneously arose in me and I started working on it in my head right away.
The groovy bass line came first and then the pre-chorus with chords that I learned on my *Aunt Mary's mini piano, decades ago. When I first showed it to my auntie she said it needed a flute solo and so it got one.
I tried a version with vocals but I didn't really like it so I sent the track to Ilia and asked him to play the lead line and the chorus and then just blow the rest of the track. And he sure did. The song started with me, but Ilia's heartfelt interpretation gives it a jazz-inflected soulful character that I never could have imagined. I feel so fortunate I found him and so blessed he agreed to share his talent, with me and now all of you.
